On 2/15/2014, Team TFPF shed a bunch of happy tears as we finalized Miley's adoption and celebrated in her new "palace." It was a magical moment. Miley walked the red carpet, ran up and down the stairs, and was greeted by a crowd of supporters who clapped and cheered her on. Miley twirled around in the living room and pounced on squeaky toys to acknowledge her "fans." She jumped on a few beds, rolled on her back, and finally took a seat on the couch with her nurturing mom. Miley knew she was finally HOME SWEET HOME!
Miley's mom, Toni, was selected among +500 applicants, and we quickly knew she was "the one" for Miley. Together with her late-husband, she raised a total of four rescue Huskies during their 40-year blessed marriage. Her veterinarian gave us a glowing recommendation. Toni also had an army of animal-loving friends (including an actress, a former Mayor, and a reputable animal rescuer) who vouched for her as a responsible, caring pet owner. Her entire home was designed to accommodate Husky-type dogs, like Miley, who may often dig holes, escape, and exhibit prey-drive.
When we first met Toni, we, too, found her to be a warmhearted and thoughtful person. And there was an immediate, indescribable bond between Toni and Miley. During our home-check, Miley would not leave Toni's side in the backyard. She even tried to steal a croissant off the dining table. It almost seemed like they were long lost family members!
Both Toni and Miley also understood each other on a much deeper level. As Toni wrote in a letter to Miley, "It seems like we both have been broken and have a second chance at a new life..." Toni lost her beloved husband to Parkinson's disease and shortly afterwards her elderly Husky went into the light. She also suffered from breast cancer, and had to put on her suit of armor to fight and win this battle. Toni no longer needs any surgeries and is doing fantastic!
Miley also had to overcome her struggles in life. For many months, she had to survive on the mean streets of L.A. all alone, cold, and hungry. She scrounged around for food and slept on a pile of trash. She battled with severe malnutrition, bloody sores on her body, and Demodectic mange that nearly shut down her immune system. After being rescued and given months of proper care, Miley is now a healthy, happy-go-lucky dog!
Toni and Miley were clearly meant for each other. And we sincerely wish this mother-daughter duo many, many years of joy and happiness together! We also want to give our deepest gratitude to our supporters who have helped us save Miley and give her this fairy tale ending!
Much Love,

Guys, in this video, I want to share how I started My Volunteer Experience with WORLDPACKERS and how far it led me.
I bought a one-way ticket from Bucharest to Madrid in June this year with the plan in mind to stay for ONLY 1 month, and now I have the whole next year planned.
And this is possible because I decided to say YES to my dream of becoming a digital nomad, to start volunteering with my skills and time, and to explore this world and expand myself as a human.
So to give a bit of context, a few years ago, a seed was planted in my mind - how can I become a digital nomad?
I was an employee then, working in sales and travelling company ACORD TRAVEL ROMÂNIA for 3 years, but I wanted to do something on my own, something MORE, so I started to be a freelancer working in Digital Marketing - 2 and a half years ago.
This is what I wanted, to be free from a space I needed to work - I wanted to earn my income only through my laptop and wifi and be able to move.
Then covid came, I stayed home for 1,5 years, and then, in the spring of 2021, my desire started to burn again, so I started looking around for opportunities.
Being a freelancer and not having a stable income all the time, so that I would be able to pay for rent in the places I will go, I decided to be a volunteer. To volunteer with my time and skills as a social media content creator.
This is how I found out about Anceu Coliving ∙ Powered by Community. Balanced in Nature.
I applied as a volunteer here in April through the @worldpackers website, Agustin, the owner of this place, immediately accepted me.
I was woowed! "This actually works - there are people able to offer you free staying in a-ma-ziiing places, and all you need to do is to volunteer with the skills you are best at".
So that I started my digital nomad - working on my personal projects but also afford travelling and not paying rent because I volunteer.
How awesome is that?
I feel like I am dreaming all the time - but this is my life now.
Is it true? Is a way of living.
To go around the world, volunteer, fail, lose jobs, stumble upon difficulties, cry, laugh, make friends, lose them, travel, make lifetime memories...
I want you too to experience this.
It elevates your mind and spirit!
There is an increasing shortage of volunteer firefighters across our state and across the country. Anita Brown-Graham looks at what rural communities are doing to recruit and support volunteer fire departments and the men and women who serve them. Generous support for this series is provided by UNC-School of Government and Civic Federal Credit Union.

We’re messing with you. Who Wants to Be A Volunteer is – at least so far - not a reality show, and Africa is still not a country. But in our video, did you recognise the familiar stereotypes of how the African continent tends to be portrayed? Or the image of the “white hero” and the “exotic other”?
We need to change the way fundraising campaigns are communicating issues of poverty and development. This is why we are awarding creative fundraising campaigns with the Golden Radiator Award, and stereotypical campaigns with the Rusty Radiator Award. An international jury has nominated seven videos, and YOU get to decide the winners by VOTING NOW! Winners will be announced 2nd of December.

Last week was one of the craziest weeks of my life. We packed our time in Cape Town with adventures and charity work (helping to re-introducing cheetahs into the wild, water accessibility). We saw some of the craziest landscapes and wildlife. Cape Town has quickly become one of my favourite cities in the world.

What’s the best way to help people? No, it’s not through government aid or tax-funded social programs, but private charity.

This last year charitable donations in the US exceeded 390 billion dollars, which is an all time high.

Roughly 70% of all money budgeted for government assistance gets spent upholding and maintaining the bureaucracies charged with the task of helping the poor. When you pay your taxes for the war on poverty, it’s more likely your money will end up in the pocket of a middle class public sector worker than with a poor person in need.

Private charities only spend 30% on infrastructure and employees, and the other 70% on the poor.

County Road 6 is home to more than just the Evergreen school district. It's the beating heart of a small but mighty Fulton County community.
And when one of their own is in need, that community steps up to the plate to help.
Evergreen baseball's senior second baseman Zach Laver was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in August of this year.
The diagnosis required immediate treatment and prevented Zach from attending school with his classmates, so members of the Evergreen Vikings baseball and softball teams came together Sunday to raise money for Zach and his family with a slow-pitch softball game.

Changing lives for pets and people that love them.
Every winter, thousands of vulnerable and innocent animals are abandoned and left out in the cold.
While we can't stop this cruelty from happening, we can and will be there to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome. Whether furry, scaly or feathered - we'll be there. But we can't do it alone. Each and every supporter helps us get another needy animal back on their paws and into a warm and loving home this winter.
