A brave Long Island teen battling a crippling disease got the surprise of a lifetime recently. Her Elmont community teamed up with members of a local charity for a surprise renovation. CBS2's Jennifer McLogan met the selfless volunteers and the remarkable, deserving young woman.

In 1999, Scientology applied for charity status with the UK's Charity Commission. It was denied on the basis the Church "was not established for the charitable purpose of promoting the moral or spiritual welfare and improvement of the community."
